ELASTIC CANVAS
A term given to a cotton cloth used for stiffening in garments. It is plain weave and very heavily stiffened in finishing. Piece-dyed in all colours. One cloth is made 42 ends and 34 picks per inch, 12's T., 12's W., hard spun yarns. Originally this term denoted a lining fabric made of linen yarns.
